Business credit cards often have their own focus: travel expenses, airmiles, communications, etc. With the Discover Business Card, however, there is no specific focus and therefore most business purchases are taken into consideration so that they might earn the cardholder cash back. Travel costs and office supply purchases earn the most cash back at 2% and 5% respectively, while purchases at selected outlets and warehouses will earn .25%. A full 1% can be earned on all purchases on the credit account.

There are no annual fees with the Discover Business Card, however there are associated late fees, overlimit fees, cash advance fees and balance transfer transaction fees. Late fees are calculated at $39 for every amount exceeding $100; the overlimit fee (that is if you charge more than your credit allows) is $39 for any amount over $100; cash advance transaction fees are a standard 3% with a $5 minimum and 20.99% annually rising to 22.99% after December 1st, 2007.

Balance transfers come at 3.9% APR until February 2009 however the transaction fee is calculated at 3% with a $5 minimum and a $75 maximum. The APR on this account is a respectable 13.99% however if you fail to make several payments on time and if you tend to carry your balance forward for months at a time your account settings will be changed and the new APR will be the default variable - a somewhat shocking amount so it is best to be careful with payments on this account if you don't want to end up paying an atrocious amount in interest.

If you open this account intent on making balance transfers from your other credit cards, you will need to do so before December first after which all introductory offers are void and Discover will not make the transfers. You will need to allow up to four weeks for the transfers to be made and Discover advises that you continue to make payments on all other accounts until you are certain the transfer has gone through; you cannot make a balance transfer from another Discover credit account.

If you make your payments on time each month and clear the balance of your purchases then you will retain the 25 day grace period associated with all Discover accounts; if not APR will be calculated sooner than the 25 day period and you will end up paying more in interest.
